Sick Boy, Chinese Australian Sport story and Vince

Yeah, I got this story about a person who grew up sick.

From his birth he was sick, in fact, he didn't cry when he came out from his mother, he sneezed. From then on he was always sick. He was often in bed, away from school. And even during lunch time when everybody was running around and playing, he had to sit or stand under a tree or on a log, watching other kids play. At times kids with detention would sit or stand next to him. He often got picked on in school but during those time, bad kids with detention often find him a good company to talk to.

Slowly he made a few friends including a girl.

However, as he got older, he slowly became healthier. He started to learn what other people learned to do in their childhood like sports, how to swim and etc. The funny thing was that in his old age, he was a very healthy old man.

So that's SiCK BOY.

The second story I have is about 3 generations of Chinese Australian family.

Our hero is Clifford. Clifford is a first generation Chinese Australian and he loves rugby. His lives in Hurstville and his favourite team is the St.George Dragons. His dad immigrated to Australia in his late 20s and love soccer (or football). His dad was a semi-professional football player in Hong Kong but only had a very short career. His dad lives for football and wanted Clifford, his only son, to take on his legacy as a football player. He tried to raise his son in soccer, believing that it would be the most joyous and greatest thing for his son. But his son loves rugby. He wanted to join organized junior league but his dad signed him up for soccer. He wasn't bad at it but he wanted to play rugby.

He plays soccer for the sake of his dad, his mother often urges him to play soccer for his dad, to make his dad proud. His dad works as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant and there is not much he is proud of but his glorious days back as a soccer player in Hong Kong. Clifford has 3 sisters and his father always wanted a son, and Clifford is the only son. Mom also does not like how rugby is a very physical sport. Although soccer is physically too, mom and the other adults think soccer is slightly better and more civilized.

It's a bit of a regret for Clifford that he was never really trained as a rugby player. His high school PE teacher often though he would be good in the school team. "You are a strong runner." "You were always a strong runner. You carry that in soccer." He sees that people who were less talented getting trained.

Later on, when he tried to join rugby, he was clearly less shaped, sharp and just not used to organized rugby. He somewhat blames his dad on his incompetent in rugby.

There was some potential for him in rugby because he was fast but we would never know because he was never really trained. Clifford is in his late 20s now and he's playing touch footy with his friends. Clifford is married but the shadow of his father still cast over him.

He has a son. And now he's deciding if he is going to make him play rugby.

As a ending credit, his son plays ping-pong, or golf.

And here is VINCE.

Vince is about a girl and guy who somewhat like each other and are looking for ways to connect. They relive their encounters and the story tells their POVs separately.

First it tells from the guy's, Vince's, perspective and then it tells from the girl's POV. They are both a little shy and slowly growing on each other yet at the same time they are trying to hide it and not let the other person know.

There are also a lot of shoot and miss from the both of them. And at times it seems that fate would separate them and they do get separated but the ending or conclusion is unclear. It's a subtle story.

I'm in love with everything
With every face I've ever seen
And every place I've ever been
Has left it's mark upon my worries ...

...
I would show everything
But everything is too extreme
We'll wait and see the entropy
At the end when we all stop lying but the sky is falling down
And there's an angel on the ground
It's getting colder
I'm standing looking down
There's not a sound around the town
It's getting colder
